FAQ
Questions studios ask.
Is this accounting software?
No. Hourbill stops at time → invoice → paid. No books, no tax filing, no payroll.
Do you charge per invoice?
No. Solo is $9/month, Studio is $15/month, Agency is $39/month flat. Payment processing is handled by Stripe on the pay link.
Can clients pay online?
Yes. Each sent invoice has a public pay link with an unguessable token. Clients do not need an Hourbill account.
Which currencies?
One currency per workspace. USD by default. Locked after the first invoice.
Can I import from Harvest?
Yes. Settings accepts a CSV with date, hours, project, notes — after pre-creating same-name projects.
Is there a free trial?
Yes — 14 days, no card required, full features of the tier you pick. Solo is 1 seat, Studio is 5, Agency is 15.
What does “sent” mean?
Sent means emailed to the client billing email with the pay link. The send route fails closed when email is unconfigured, and the invoice PDF is preview-only.
Can I void an invoice?
Voiding an unpaid invoice unlocks its hours back to unbilled. A paid invoice needs a refund first — it cannot be voided outright.
What happens if I cancel?
The workspace returns to Solo without deleting time data. Teammates beyond 1 seat lose access until you resubscribe.
What happens when my trial ends?
Adding and editing pause until you subscribe — reading, exports, and all existing data stay exactly as they are.
